How God Prepared the Way

Years passed, and life moved on. Bangladesh became little more than a distant memory.
Then, in 2019, the Lord unexpectedly brought Bangladesh back to my mind. I remembered that my former pen pal was from Khulna, and I learned that less than one percent of Bangladesh's population identified as Christian. The Lord placed a desire in my heart to help in a small way, so I began giving occasional financial support to an Assemblies of God church in Khulna.
Looking back, I can now see that God was quietly cultivating a heart for Bangladesh long before I understood why.
Looking back, I can now see that God often prepares us for His plans long before we recognize them.
In 1990, while I was still in high school, I signed up to receive an international pen pal. Bangladesh wasn't one of the countries I had requested, yet one day a letter arrived from a young man living there. Over the next few years we exchanged letters, and although life eventually took us in different directions, God had quietly planted the name "Bangladesh" in my heart long before I realized He had a purpose for it.
In time, I reconnected with my former pen pal through Facebook. We caught up on life, and I had the opportunity to share the Gospel with him. Although he respectfully chose not to embrace the message, our conversations eventually came to a close.
Looking back, I now see that even this brief reconnection reminded me of Bangladesh after many years. Though I didn't realize it then, God was quietly continuing to prepare my heart.
Then God opened an entirely unexpected door.
Through Facebook, I became friends with Raktim Duke Mondal, the worship leader at the Assemblies of God church in Jashore, Bangladesh. After we had been connected for some time, he asked if we could begin collaborating on ministry videos. I would share a message from Scripture and pray, while he would provide worship music.
Those collaborations became the beginning of a ministry friendship that I never could have imagined—and another step in God's unfolding plan.
An Unexpected Connection

When God Connected the Pieces

As our ministry friendship grew, something else came back to my remembrance.
In 2018, before I knew Raktim or had any connection to Jashore, the Lord gave me a vision. I saw myself standing on a platform speaking to a large gathering of people. I did not know exactly where I was. Whether the people were from Bangladesh or India, I could not tell, but I knew the Lord had given me the vision for a reason.
Then, in 2026, while attending a revival, the Lord gave me another vision. I was with Jesus, and He led me to a curtain. As He pulled the curtain back, He revealed a large gathering of people whom I would one day speak to. They appeared to be from the same part of the world as the people in the vision years before.
In that moment, I immediately remembered the vision God had given me in 2018. What had once seemed like an isolated experience suddenly made sense. God had not forgotten His plan. He had been revealing it step by step, in His perfect timing.
The Invitation

As our ministry friendship continued to grow, Raktim invited me to come to Bangladesh. I was both humbled and excited by the invitation, but at that point I knew very little about what the trip might involve.
As we continued talking, he shared his vision for ministry in Jashore and the surrounding communities. He explained that, if I was willing, he could arrange opportunities to minister not only at the Assemblies of God church, but also in nearby villages through community outreaches, teen fellowships, prayer ministry, and Bible distribution.
With each conversation, I became increasingly aware of how faithfully God had been preparing this journey for years. Looking back, I can now see His hand guiding each step. Only God could have written a story like this. What began with a single letter in 1990 has become an opportunity to share the hope of Christ with the people of Bangladesh.

One of the greatest blessings God has provided for this mission is the people He has already placed there. Raktim Duke Mondal, his family, and the church in Jashore have warmly welcomed me and are helping prepare for my visit and the ministry opportunities ahead.
Their love for Christ and their heart for reaching their community have been an encouragement to me from the very beginning. I am thankful for their friendship, their hospitality, and their willingness to serve alongside me as we share the Gospel throughout Jashore and the surrounding villages.
